Ans. At first, the rain made Lencho happy because his crops needed water. But soon the rain turned into a disaster when hailstones began to fall. The hail destroyed the corn plants completely. Lencho’s fields were ruined and there was nothing left for his family to eat.
(b) What did Rajvir see on the way during his car journey to Dhekiabari?
Ans.During his journey to Dhekiabari, Rajvir saw beautiful tea gardens spread like green carpets on both sides of the road. He also noticed tea pluckers plucking tea leaves, factories processing tea and rows of tea bushes which made the journey pleasant and interesting.

Ans. Ausable was confident that Max would never return because Max fell to his death while trying to escape through the window. There was no balcony outside the room, so Ausable knew Max could not survive.
30. Answer any one of the following in about 60 words:
(a) Why did Bholi at first agree to an unequal match? Why did she later reject the marriage?
Ans. Bholi first agreed to the unequal match because her parents felt she was ugly and stammered, so no one else would marry her. Later, she rejected the marriage when the bridegroom demanded dowry. She gained confidence through education and chose self-respect over marriage.
(b) How did a nursery book ‘Mother Goose’ save the Earth from a Martian invasion?
Ans. The nursery book Mother Goose saved the Earth because the Martians became weak after reading it. The rhymes contained germs harmless to humans but deadly for Martians. As a result, the Martians died, and the Earth was saved from invasion.
